Young Life Capernaum Activities:

  • We have a club meeting every month held at the Robinhood YMCA in Winston-Salem from 4-5:30PM (usually the 2nd Saturday of the month). At our club meeting we socialize, enjoy a snack, sing songs, play group games, watch funny skits, and hear a leader share about life and God and His love for us.
  • Once a month we have a guys and girls bible study called “Campaigners” where we do an activity together and then discuss the message from our last club meeting.
  • We occasionally hold “socials” throughout the month where we go out to eat, have a movie night, or do a fun event together.
  • We take two camp trips to Carolina Point – a fully accessible Young Life Camp in Brevard, NC – one weekend trip in February and one 5-day week camp in the summer.

Our Story:

Two moms that have children with special needs had a heart to bring Young Life Capernaum to Forsyth County. A small committee was formed to pray over and brainstorm on how that would happen. Over months of praying and planning, we took our first group of campers and leaders to camp August 2015 and Capernaum club officially started in Greater Forsyth County in the Fall of 2015.

Young Life Capernaum Staff & Volunteers:

  • Young Life Capernaum leaders are caring college students, young professionals, and adults who strive to provide what every young person needs, especially those with disabilities — a life filled with love, support, excitement and challenge. Every leader has trained, applied and gone through background checks in order to be in the lives of kids. These leaders spend time with their Capernaum friends, modeling the love of Jesus Christ at monthly club meetings, special events and on camp trips — helping young people with disabilities discover their ability to do new things and to be all God designed them to be.
  • Young Life Capernaum invites typical high school students to attend our meetings regularly to love on our Capernaum friends who come to club and enjoy friendship with them.
