Pediatric Therapy Connection, PLLC is a child and family centered pediatric speech-language therapy practice located in the Triad, and close to Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Kernersville, High Point, Summerfield, Oak Ridge, and all surrounding areas. We specialize in the enhancement of communication for children with a variety of speech and language delays and disorders through engaging and effective therapy. We also specialize in literacy, working with individuals to discover the joys of reading. We offer comprehensive evaluations and skilled therapy.
During an evaluation, a combination of informal and formal testing is completed including parent/caregiver interview, clinical observation through play and conversation, and standardized testing. These measures are used to diagnose if a speech/language problem is present and to determine the type and frequency of therapy.
If therapy is recommended, a child-specific plan will be made and reviewed with caregivers. Therapy is offered in the PTC clinic with the goal of making therapy FUN, but effective. Families are always encouraged to be a part of therapy!
I found my passion for working with children with communication needs in college while employed as a community skills instructor for the Autism Society of NC. I obtained a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from East Carolina University in 2009. I have clinical experience in a variety of settings including private practice, acute care, school system, and outpatient rehabilitation. My experience in the evaluation and treatment of children with a variety of diagnoses includes: articulation/phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language delays, apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, and pragmatic language disorders, with particular interest and experience in written language disorders. I have received training in the Orton-Gillingham and Visualizing/Verbalizing techniques for literacy remediation. In addition, I have specialized training in the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT).
I recently relocated to the Triad from the Triangle, where I have been practicing for almost ten years.
